First Week of School in the Books

First week of school mom is done… first full week of school for the kids is complete… and two weeks of school for dad is accomplished. Should I wipe the sweat off my brow? It’s been a crazy couple of weeks, we’re still trying to find our groove and figure out the best routine to fit all of our needs. It’s even more chaotic because J’s schedule at work has been all over the place while he tries to fill positions in his department. However, we’re getting by and doing the best we can, making the best of all situations.

The kids were both excited and not excited to get back to our normal homeschool routine, but it felt good to get a full week in and feel back to normal even just a little bit. Boo is a hard toddler to entertain while we do our school work, so I’ll admit he’s been getting some screen time during the time we do group work. But a little tractor entertainment won’t hurt him, right?

I’m really enjoying my classes so far, of course they’re all Communication classes but I feel like I’ve done well picking my degree path. It was a heavy reading week, lots of note taking and forum posts… but I did well getting everything done in a timely manner. If I can keep up my organization and planning methods, I think the rest of the semester will go really well.

We also snuck in a little trip to Knoxville this week, stopped at several bookstores including McKay’s. If you’ve never been, they have locations in Knoxville and Chattanooga, TN, as well as Winston Salem and Greensboro, NC. We love taking books we don’t read anymore to get credit for new books. We bought over $200 worth of books but only paid $22 out of pocket! We also visited one in Maryville and one in Cosby, TN that we loved! I think J will end up posting some videos at a future date when we can return eventually.

Other than that, I attended our co-op parent meeting virtually last night. We’re gearing up to start that next week and my kids are so excited. It’s been 5 years since we participated in this (or any) co-op and I’m glad we were able to work it into our schedule this year. It’s a great way for the kids to make friends, learn some topics we might not get a chance to cover at home, and spend some time with other families like ours.

Well, enough rambling. I plan to continue updating, but it won’t be as often as I did when my blog was super active. Life is just to crazy and busy if I’m being honest. Feel free to follow our other social channels and comment on here if you ever have questions or just want to check in. Until then, God bless!

I would love to hear from you! Comment away!
