She is Beautiful
A few months back I read a blog post on why you should not tell your daughter she is beautiful. I was dumbfounded. How could you NOT tell your daughters they are beautiful? Now, I can understand that the word beautiful, just like love, can be tossed around without true meaning. But never, not once when I tell my sweet Boogie that is BEAUTIFUL do I not mean it. I mean it every time, and always will.
Beautiful is not a word I have always heard about myself, and I hope there aren’t any hurt feelings after posting this, but I didn’t hear it much growing up… just on special occasions when we’d get all gussied up. And even now, my dear sweet, handsome husband of mine… is not a romantic. He knows it, he jokes about it even, and I adore him despite this… but he just doesn’t tell me I’m beautiful when I WANT or NEED to hear it. He says I’m “purdy”… really babe? This is me rolling my eyes right now, gotta love him! So, I want my daughter to know that she is beautiful, I think she needs to hear that.
So Boogie, do you hear me? Someday you will read this and I want you to know that you are beautiful.
When you are dressed in your jammies and haven’t brushed a comb through your hair… you’re beautiful.
When you are sick or down in the dumps… you are beautiful.
When you are a mother, frazzled and un-showered…. you are still beautiful.
When you are in college, sleep deprived and stressed over final exams… you are beautiful.
When you walk down the aisle (no matter where or how you decide to do so) to marry the love of your life… you are beautiful.
When you argue, fight, scream, yell, and are being downright naughty… you are beautiful.
When you are up all night nursing your little ones (which will be pay back for all the nights you kept me up nursing!)… you are beautiful.
When you don’t feel beautiful… you ARE beautiful. It doesn’t matter where you are, where you go, what you do, who you’re with… you will always be beautiful. And don’t you forget it!

What a beautiful posts. I have two daughters and I do tell them often they’re beautiful. I think I actually use the words “you’re so pretty”, but I say it because when I look at them I see all their beauty. Not just the beauty in their faces but the beauty in the beautiful person they are inside and out. Enjoyed the pictures.

Oh my goodness. The sweetest post. I tell my little man he’s handsome no less than a million times a day! You keep doing the same for your sweet little lady! 🙂
