Backyard Camping Adventure

Last weekend my husband decided to plan a surprise backyard camping adventure for the kids. He popped up the tent, made a campfire and we enjoyed some music and roasted s’mores that evening. I love watching him make memories with the kids, so I decided to take advantage of some quiet and spent the night inside. It was so quiet! And I was able to sleep in complete darkness (the littles are afraid of the dark, and so we leave the bathroom light on for them). It was a wonderful time for all!

We were supposed to be planning a camping trip to Charleston, SC again this May but with everything going on with COVID-19 we cancelled and will reschedule hopefully later this summer. This was J’s way of making up for that in a way.

The kids really enjoyed it, and it was the best weather for it. My favorite part though was that it’s too early for mosquitoes, ha! The kids ran all over the yard, Boogie made some “moss shoes” so she could run barefoot without hurting her feet.

I think the kids enjoyed their s’mores the most though, if these photos are any indication! The next morning the kids woke up pretty early, but J let them get up and they watched the sunrise with a nice little campfire until he was ready to bring everyone inside.

We had to hurriedly take the tent down because it started raining earlier than we anticipated, we even popped it up inside our living room  to dry out! The kids had a blast, I know this is something they will remember for years to come!

You can see more of this backyard camping adventure on our YouTube channel! J made a wonderful video compilation of the entire weekend, I hope you enjoy it! You can find it HERE – and don’t forget to subscribe to keep up with our future adventures!

I would love to hear from you! Comment away!
